Mysten Labs Appoints Kevin Boon as President

Effective immediately, Kevin Boon, formerly Chief Legal Officer at Mysten Labs, has been appointed to the position of President at Mysten Labs by the company’s board of directors. As President, Kevin will oversee key aspects of the company’s strategy and operations alongside CEO Evan Cheng, ensuring the company continues to lead the way in driving innovation and growth within the Web3 ecosystem. This appointment comes at a pivotal time for Mysten Labs, as the company will achieve major milestones in 2025, such as the release of Walrus Protocol’s Mainnet, and the official launch of the SuiPlay0X1. As an early leader and integral part of Mysten’s leadership team, Kevin’s deep understanding of the company’s mission makes him uniquely qualified to drive the company’s strategic initiatives in this new role.

Beyond leading day-to-day business operations, Kevin will play a crucial, cross-functional role in continuing the expansion of Mysten Labs’ suite of infrastructure solutions and first party products. In his recent capacity,  Kevin oversaw various departments in a wide variety of functions, including legal, business development, corporate development, and strategic communications. His ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes while fostering strategic partnerships has been instrumental in shaping Mysten Labs’ trajectory as a leading blockchain infrastructure company.

A natural fit for a team driven by product and engineering prowess, Kevin has a plethora of experience as a dynamic leader and product-oriented technology attorney, having previously served as  general counsel at Picsart, and led the product, regulatory, commercial, and international legal teams at Block. Prior to that, he was lead counsel for multiple retail teams and subsidiaries of Amazon, and was also a transactional associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP. He holds a J.D. from Fordham Law and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University.

Kevin’s extensive legal expertise and track record in guiding high-growth technology companies will be instrumental in the continued execution of Mysten’s roadmap. Under his leadership, Mysten Labs will continue to foster the growth of the Sui ecosystem, focusing on improving transaction throughput, lowering costs, and simplifying developer tools for Web3 adoption.
