Mysten Labs Acquires Web3 Gaming Infrastructure Startup Parasol
Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui, the only blockchain built for mass adoption, today announced the acquisition of Parasol, a team of Japanese and American gaming experts with decades of experience in inventing, building, and shipping category-defining gaming hardware and software. Parasol, an end-to-end platform enabling game developers to seamlessly integrate blockchain infrastructure into their games, will be bringing its substantial lineup of gaming partners to Sui.
By offering simple-to-use REST APIs, Parasol allows developers to implement functionalities such as in-game item tokenization, marketplaces, and on-chain gameplay without compromising game quality – now exclusively on Sui. Parasol’s mission is to connect the world through immersive entertainment, empowering storytellers to create rich, emotive narratives.
“We’ve been watching Sui’s constant innovation and evolution since mainnet launch, and now, thanks to Mysten’s leadership and resources, we’re poised to supercharge the growth of the Sui gaming ecosystem,” said Kai Chen, CEO of Parasol. “Together, we’ll enable developers to bring innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to life.”
Parasol’s acquisition is the latest commitment to Web3-powered gaming from Mysten Labs, which supports a wide variety of games, including flagship AAA XOCIETY. In partnership with Playtron OS, Mysten Labs is developing the forthcoming SuiPlay0X1, the first hardware device capable of playing Web2 and Web3-powered games.
“The team at Parasol will significantly expand the reach of the Sui gaming ecosystem, as they’re bringing with them an established network of top-tier gaming partners,” said Evan Cheng, CEO and Co-Founder of Mysten Labs. “Stay tuned – we’ll be able to share more about these partners very soon. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working on.”
